Women who have a Medical device implant : ProteGen Vaginal Sling may be at risk for serious side effects and dangerous complications related to this defective device.

The ProteGen PuboVaginal Sling was on the market from April 1997 until January 1999, when it was withdrawn by its manufacturer, Boston Scientific Group. The FDA found the device to be "adulterated and misbranded" because of its side effects. The withdrawal applied only to new, unused devices --- not to those already implanted. Therefore many woman may still have these dangerous devices and be unaware of the dangers.
